Applications are invited for this position which will be
available in 2009 for a 12 month period but can be extended to allow 3 years of
training in paediatric endocrinology.
Princess Margaret Hospital, Perth, is the major teaching hospital in
paediatric medicine in Western Australia.
The Department of Endocrinology & Diabetes at Princess Margaret
Hospital has a comprehensive and large clinical service that serves all
children in Western Australia with diabetes and endocrine disorders. The
Department is affiliated with the Telethon Institute for Child Health Research
and has an active research program with substantial resources for both
laboratory and clinical research
The Fellowship is a position offering trainees in
paediatrics the opportunity to obtain experience and further training in
clinical and research aspects of paediatric endocrinology.
The training program includes journal clubs,
interdisciplinary research meetings and case reviews.
The appointee would have the opportunity to
participate in the clinical activities of the Department and to work on a
research program.
The salary will be equivalent to senior clinical
fellows.

Postdoctoral Fellowship

The Rolf
Edgar Lake Postdoctoral Fellowship is funded by a bequest for the purpose of promoting
and encouraging postdoctoral research in the Faculty of Medicine in the University of Sydney. The Fellowship is awarded on the
basis on academic merit and research potential, as demonstrated by previous
research experience, published work and conference presentations.
In
selecting Fellows, preference will be given to applicants who have already
embarked on research careers, and for whom the award of the Fellowship can be
seen as a significant contribution to their further development. Therefore,
while senior scientists are not precluded from applying, preference will be
given to scientists at an earlier stage of their careers i.e. within five years
of award of their PhD. Suitable applicants based outside of the University of Sydney are particularly encouraged to
apply.
Fellows
will be appointed at an appropriate level within the University of Sydney
salary scale for Research Fellows. Qualifying recipients shall also be paid an
appropriate clinical loading. Fellowships may be accompanied by a grant-in-aid
of up to $15,000.
